Arts Integration in Jewish Learning

Jewish study can be more personally meaningful when experienced through integrated arts strategies, such as drama, music, poetry, dance and visual arts. Explore some theory and strategies and see how the study of Jewish text can come to life and be transformative. Formal and informal educators and parents are all encouraged to attend!

Mizrahi Religious Songs Past and Present
with Dr. Galeet Dardashti
Wednesday, June 9, Noon
Hear, learn and sing some beautiful poetic songs and discover their cultural and historical context as well as their new relevance in Israel. In this interactive lecture, Iranian-descended vocalist and anthropologist Dardashti introduces religious song traditions of Jews from the Middle East and North Africa. Includes live performance and recordings.

Summer on the Steps
Thursday, June 10, 6:00 pm 
Join us on the 16th Street steps for a special performance by the Gesher Middle School band of Northern Virginia! Ezra Lapidus, Sarah Cherney, Coby Benheim, Daniel Schwartz, Miryam Mendelson and teacher Mat Tonti perform classic Israeli dance tunes, traditional Jewish liturgy and modern-day rock classics.
