Tebeka, an Israeli NGO, works to pursue social justice, assure the civil rights of the Ethiopian immigrant community and aid in their absorption process. On Thursday, June 26, the U.S. Friends of Tebeka will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the modern State of Israel, discuss the history of the Aliyah of Ethiopian Jews, their community’s successes, and the challenges yet remaining.  Honored guests from the Embassies of Israel and Ethiopia will join us for this lively reception and discussion.

Tebeka believes that successful integration of Ethiopian Israelis will be achieved when immigrants have been incorporated into every area of Israeli society, community members enjoy equal treatment, and discrimination against Ethiopians no longer exists. Tebeka’s work is strengthening both Israel and the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel.

Dialogues and Public Affairs:
Jews and the communities with which they live engage in frank and humane discussions on contemporary issues and ideas.

Embassy Nights: Visit DC's Embassy communities and connect with our international neighbors.  Culture, Cuisine, and Conversation

Draft Mission Statement -  "We seek to connect through dialogue to the many civic and cultural identities of Jews and the communities with which they live. We create frank encounters of thinkers and doers who respond to pressing local, national, and international concerns of history and the current day. We provide a forum in which people of good faith with strongly opposing views engage in humane conversation and interactive dialogue.  Our popular Embassy Nights Series enhances Jewish engagement as world citizens through culture and conversation in visits with the international community."
