Assistant Director for Camp, Youth and Family Programs

The Washington DCJCC is looking for a Director of its Summer Day Camp who will also serve as the year-round Assistant Director for Youth and Family Programs.  This person should be energetic, creative and organized to be able to plan the summer camps for campers aged 4-17 and year-round programs for children in elementary school.

As Director for the Summer Day Camp:  Program, budget, market (online, in print (including the brochure) and in person), hire/train/supervise staff, registration (except for processing payments), pursue American Camp Association (ACA) Accreditation, attend conferences and trainings as needed, participate in professional associations.

  • For the Youth Programs: Program, budget, market, hire/train/supervise staff and registration (except for processing payments) for the school-year programs for elementary-age children:  Winter Fun Days, No School Today, Snow Days and afterschool programs (e.g. J Kids Swim Team).  
  • For the Family Programs:  Work with the Preschool staff to plan special community-wide events (e.g. Chanukah and Purim parties); Coordinate Take Me to the J Sunday programming; and Run the Birthday Party program


Education requirement:  undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university (education, camp administration or related area of study preferred).  Prior camp experience (as a director, assistant director, counselor or unit head) preferred. Significant work experience, including responsibility for supervising others, required.

Start date:  Immediately
