GLOE Program Director
The Kurlander Program for Gay & Lesbian Outreach and Engagement of the Washington DCJCC is seeking a full-time GLOE Program Director to develop, manage and administer programming in consultation with the GLOE Advisory Committee and other program divisions of the Washington DCJCC, e.g., Theater J, Washington Jewish Film Festival, Washington Jewish Music Festival. The successful candidate will take charge of a program that has become a national leader in providing a link between the Jewish and GLBT communities. This model program is one of the core activities of the Washington DCJCC and speaks to its mission of welcoming the broadest possible Jewish community along with their friends, family and neighbors.
Responsibilities include:
- Creating and producing year-round programs for the GLBT-community including the Rainbow Seder, Purim Party, Pride Week activities, Jewish holiday events and other special events such as Speed Dating, retreats, performances and talks.
- Staffing the GLOE Committee meetings and maintaining regular communication with Committee members on programming ideas and initiatives
- Coordinating co-sponsorships and co-programming with both outside organizations such as One-in-Ten and Washington DCJCC programming directors.
- Assisting the Chief Development Officer and Development staff at the Washington DCJCC to identify funding sources for GLOE programs, involving GLOE Committee members in developing funding prospects, and soliciting contributions.
- Creating program flyers and other advertising materials and posting events online
- Updating content on the GLOE information page on the Washington DCJCC website
- Reaching out to schools, synagogues, businesses and community organizations
- Preparing, administering and tabulating marketing surveys
- Tracking income and expenditures
- Managing ticket sales to programs or events
- Communicating with GLOE newsletter subscribers and other interested parties
- Recruiting and coordinating volunteers to serve at GLOE events
- Other tasks as needed to prepare for program and follow-up
Excellent computer and communication skills a must. Experience updating Websites and using CMS and CRM software a plus. Candidates must have experience with the Jewish community as well as the GLBT community.
